The 500m

The Pinnacle. This section will delve into all of the determinants that affect 500m performance from start to finish. I will provide my analysis of each section with informative tips and advice on how to train and improve. This includes many anecdote learned over my 10 years of training for the 500m; I tried the crazy ideas so you don't have to.

The 500m - an overview
500m Training for starting power
500m Training for cruising power

The 1000m

I will analyse the performance determinants of the 1000m and provide my views and advice on how best to train for this distance. Assessing the differences between the all out sprint 500m and the 1km forms the basis of discussion for how best to train the different energy systems that are used over this slightly longer distance. I run through a number of different training sessions that I successfully used to go sub 2:40 over this disatnce.

The 1km overview
Cruising power & Threshold training
1K technique
1K training session - race power 600m
1K training session - race power 500m
1K training session - lactate stacking 2
